
Rosie Perez (born Rosa Maria Perez on the 6th of September 1964) is an American actress as well as choreographer, dancer and activist. Her biggest breakthrough came from Tina's role in Do the Right Thing (1989), followed closely by White Men Can't Hop (1992). Perez was nominated for the Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress for her role in Fearless (1993). Perez's leading roles in movies include It Could Happen to You (1994) as well as The Road to El Dorado(2000), Pineapple Express (2007), and Birds of Prey (2018). Perez also earned three Primetime Emmy Award nominations (in 1990, 1994 and) and a third Emmy nomination (2020-present) for her work as The Flight Attendant. In addition, she has been featured in Broadway plays, such as The Ritz and Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune and Fish in the Dark. The 18th season was the time she also co-hosted on ABC's talk program The View. She was a student at Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood. [11] In 1999 her mother was living in poverty at Woodside Houses when she died from AIDS-related complications.
