Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on January. 19. 1946 into a very low-income family, with twelve kids at one point, realized that she could escape the hardships of her life by using a imaginative mind. Even before learning to write or read and compose her own songs. She got her first guitar when she was just 8 years old and began singing on the Knoxville Tenn radio station at age 11. In the same year, she recorded her debut album on Gold Band Records an independent small-scale label. The singer established a name on the local circuit while in high school, however she wanted to perform on a larger stage. The year 1964 was the day after her high school graduation her family moved to Nashville. Her first charting hits for Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Around this time, Porter Wagoner was looking for an actress to sing for the show he had syndicated to television. Parton was offered the gig in 1967 signed to RCA Records in 1968 and joined in the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. But she resigned from the show in 1974 when her solo releases such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were charting collaborations with them. Parton following the breakup of their collaboration with Wagoner was the one to write"I Will Never Love You and made it to No. First time, in 1974.
